Based in China, Anycubic developed and launched its first 3D printing solution back in 2016. Called Mega, this affordable FDM 3D printer was developed to meet the growing demand from users of DIY 3D printers for extra printer components. The founders realized they could put together an affordable solution that would meet this market demand in a more efficient way. Today, the Chinese company offers multiple series of 3D printers, including the Mega series, which it is expanding with a new launch. The company has introduced the Mega X, the largest printer in the Mega family.

In recent years, we have seen a growth of Chinese manufacturers in the additive manufacturing market. Most of them have developed desktop machines that are easy to use, easy to assemble, and above all very accessible. These 3D printers rarely exceed the $500 mark, perfect for makers who want to quickly try out a machine. This is also the case of Anycubic, who has made a place for itself on the market with its Mega series. The manufacturer has decided to expand it today by introducing a new larger machine, the Mega X.

Therefore, the Mega family will include the Mega, Mega S and Mega X. The Mega X boasts a build volume of 300 x 300 x 305 mm, around 30% larger than the Mega S. The main goal of Anycubic was to offer those that have loved the previously launched models the same features but with a bigger build volume to enable more creativity. For example, the manufacturer explains that a full size helmet can be 3D printed in one piece on this machine.

All the features that users have enjoyed in the series over the years, including quick assembly, the Titan style extruder, dual Y axis rails (to increase the stability of the printing bed), Ultrabase build surface to name a few, have been maintained. Moreover, some nice features include a 3.5” color touchscreen where you can access all of your basic and advanced parameters simply with a quick tap and a end-of-filament sensor.

The extruder can reach a temperature of 200°C in under a minute, and the bed can heat up to 60°C in about 90-120 seconds to ensure a successful adhesion to the build plate. The extruder comes with an E3D V6 style 0.4mm nozzle, but can easily be swapped for any other V6 style nozzle in the size you choose. The typical polymers that are found in filament form can be used on this machine such as ABS, PLA, HIPS, Wood and more.

Finally, a layer resolution of up to 0.05 mm can be achieved on this machine and the metal frame has been made sturdier than ever. Anycubic will offer this new addition to the Mega range at a starting price of $399 USD. It is available from the manufacturer’s website for pre-order as of today.
