3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace Make service connects you with manufacturers around the world to produce your part
In the world of additive manufacturing, there is no shortage of 3D printing service providers. However, when you have no experience with 3D printing technologies you might find that the market is somewhat opaque, and choosing the right service to manufacture your parts can be difficult. The 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace launched by Dassault Systèmes is an online ecosystem of industrial worldwide service providers that aims to respond to companies’ manufacturing needs. It is made up of 3 services: Make, Part Supply and Engineering.
The 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace Make service, which connects buyers to providers, is currently made up of more than 200 providers around the world. They offer services in additive manufacturing but also complementary technologies such as CNC machining, injection molding, and laser cutting. Providers can produce prototypes or end-use parts in series production. Therefore, companies that wish to test designs for their projects but do not have any reason to invest in in-house equipment can work with a manufacturing service to have their parts made.
One of the main benefits of the 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace Make service is that it offers an instant quoting system to enable buyers to immediately compare offers from providers. Additionally, a buyer is able to adjust parameters, such as capacity and turnover, to measure how it affects manufacturing costs. The 3D printing bureau headquartered in the UK, ProMake, joined the marketplace in 2018, and has experienced first-hand the interest from clients. Gavin Leggott, Co-Founder and Director of ProMake comments: “The marketplace ties perfectly into our network of 3D printers and materials that we have access to worldwide. People are able to tap into the marketplace around the world and gain benefit from a wide range of tech and manufacturing techniques. We have had many enquiries so far.”
For any part you wish to produce, the 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace can put you in contact with a manufacturing service specialized in this field. For example, ProMake is focused on developing smart products for various sectors, including the medical field. They use 3D printing as well as other manufacturing technologies. Gavin Leggott explains: “We have mainly quoted and supplied plastic parts. For example, we produced automotive parts using SLA 3D printing technology. We created 50 T-piece air intake valves that came out beautifully. The enquiries range from industrial parts to very organic parts such as animal bones.”
As the benefits of integrating 3D printing for product development become well-known, companies’ interest in the technology increases. Nevertheless, investing in expensive technology when you do not have the technical knowledge is tricky. On the 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace, it’s not just providers you have access to, but also experts’ advice. ProMake explains: “Buyers are able to gain access to the latest state of the art technology at the touch of a button along with expert advice. The role of the marketplace is to provide an efficient, reliable source with reasonable lead times and excellent service delivery. The two roles go hand in hand as people require fast, accurate and efficient services.”
Finally, the 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace Make service is only part of the ecosystem Dassault Systèmes has launched. The marketplace is also made up of Part Supply and Engineering services. Part Supply is an online catalogue of millions of components available to download, and Engineering is a service specialized in the digitization, design and certification of products.
