Mission

3D Systems Healthcare is in search of a skilled Additive Manufacturing Technician to support production efforts in a partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for the development of medical device additive manufacturing.

The job-site for this position is at the VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Unfortunately, there is no option for remote or hybrid work.

Essential Functions

The Additive Manufacturing Technician has the following responsibilities:

 

  • Execute 3D printing processes, SOPs, and QC procedures for 3D printed polymer materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manufacture development and verification materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Operate equipment related to digital manufacturing and related processes.
  • Complete batch records related to the production and QC processes.
  • Maintain organized supply and parts inventory, and assist with procurement.
  • Comply with site specific workflow, training, and procedures
  • Comply with all relevant VA training and regulatory reporting
  • Execute experimental protocols under direction of Scientist/Engineer
  • Contribute to the VA’s mission of serving our nation’s Veterans

Profile

Qualifications

 

  • Candidates with relevant academic degrees, associates, and/or certifications are encouraged to apply, but neither are hard requirements.
  • Candidates with military equivalent training are encouraged to apply.
  • Pass a government background check and be eligible for a PIV Card
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Familiarity with various 3D printing techniques (e.g., FDM, SLA, DLP)
  • Demonstrated aptitude operating production equipment.
  • Experience following standard operating procedures and creating controlled records.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Many aspects of the work are physical in nature and require loading and unloading of materials into machines of varying height. Some task require the use of PPE such as respirators.
  • Interaction with human computer interfaces, such as keyboards, monitors, touchscreens, and dials is also required. The production environment is physically large and ability to traverse this space for long durations is necessary. Ability to work independently to deliver results.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ISO standards, and regulatory requirements in the biotechnology industry.
