Profile
Summary/Objective: The Additive Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Engineering, Sales, and Operations to design, develop and implement Additive Manufacturing components into production. Responsibilities include CAD design/modifications, printing, cleaning, and curing Additive components, establishing build processes for new designs, and debugging new Additive technologies. The focus of the Additive Engineer’s work is to collaborate with a variety of departments and design in Additive as a production solution.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Work with Engineering, Operations, and Sales to implement Additive components into production.
- Lead and execute design changes that optimize component geometries for 3D printing.
- Carryout successful printing of 3D parts.
- Debug new systems and processes.
- Develop manufacturing best practices, parameters, process windows, and work instructions that improve Additive Manufacturing operation and print success.
- Design and establish Additive Manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
- Work with Engineering and Operations to qualify Additive Manufacturing designs.
- Design and implement new ways to process additively manufactured components.
- Develop/research new Additive Manufacturing methods/systems that help advance the department & company long-term.
- Provide general guidance, direction, and support to other departments/sites that utilize Additive Manufacturing processes.
- Develop cross functional relationships that help promote the adoption of Additive Manufacturing at Samtec.

Mission
Required Experience
- 2-3 years of product/tooling design utilizing CAD
- Experience in a high-volume production environment
- Strong computer and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, creative mindset.
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, etc.)
- Additive Manufacturing experience
- Problem-Solving background is highly desirable.
- Lean Manufacturing experience
- Self-starting, self-directed with very good influential, organizational and communication skills.
