3D-Printing Lab Specialist – Specialist IV

Specialist IV position oversees daily operations for a 3D printing lab within a medical library. Duties include processing and invoicing 3D printing requests, as well as the maintenance of fourteen 3D printers on the TTUHSC Lubbock and regional campuses. This position ensures work areas and equipment adhere to TTUHSC safety guidelines like proper usage and storage of tools, materials, and chemicals, as well as, updating material safety data sheets and enforcing safety expectations. Specialist IV tracks material inventory and maintains vendor relations by processing supply orders, while providing material and equipment recommendations to ensure the lab is offering the most current technological resources. Additional duties include some travel to maintain regionally based 3D printing equipment, 3D Modeling with medical imaging, CAD-based design, and supporting the development of a student-occupied workspace that promotes student usage and engages with faculty research interests. This position will assist with special projects as needed, while supporting the mission of the Methodology Lab. Opportunities to gain experience in administration and staff supervision, along with the potential for flexible working arrangement after probationary expectations have been met.
Tracking daily patron statistics, supporting IT personal during absences, and assisting with computer lab operations.
High school plus four (4) years’ experience.
Additional education may substitute on a year for year basis.
3D modeling with Blender, Rhino, or engineering CAD based software like Solidworks or AutoCAD, along with mechanical and electrical repair experience is strongly preferred.
