Bei einer Ultraschalluntersuchung stellten die \u00c4rzte fest, dass ein Teil seines Gehirns sich au\u00dferhalb seiner Hirnschale befindet. Sie sahen f\u00fcr das Baby wenig \u00dcberlebenschancen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Am 31. Oktober 2015 wurde Bentley entgegen der Erwartungen, mit normalen Hirnfunktionen geboren. Die \u00c4rzte stellten jedoch fest dass die betroffenen Gehirnbereiche f\u00fcr die kognitiven Funktionen geh\u00f6rig sind und die Operation somit komplex sein w\u00fcrde. So wurde festgestellt wie viel der externen Gehirnmasse in seinem Sch\u00e4del zur\u00fcckgef\u00fchrt werden k\u00f6nnte.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eine vergleichbare Operation wurde vor einiger Zeit in China erfolgreich durchgef\u00fchrt. Da konnte der 3D-Druck ebenfalls dem Patienten eine bessere Perspektive bieten. Bentley\u2019s sechsst\u00fcndige Operation fand am 24. Mai statt.
