The secondedition of In3Dustry From Needs to Solutions, which will take place from 20 to 22 June at the Italian Pavilion at the Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue, will feature a broad cross-section from the additive and advanced manufacturing ecosystem that shapes the so-called maker movement, the end users of 3D printers, who, with their ideas and projects, are the driving force behind a changing economic model. To that end, the event will include the Maker Pro space, where makers will have their own activity and exhibition area.
Under the coordination of urban planner Thomas Diez, the man behind the Fab City Research Laboratory at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), this space will be exhibiting projects that have been designed using advanced manufacturing technologies, collaborative processes and an open-source philosophy, and will bring together the leading exponents of the maker phenomenon at workshops, exhibitions and lectures in order to raise awareness of the enormous potential of additive and advanced manufacturing.
More than 20 projects submitted by participants in Fab Academy will be exhibited in the Maker Pro zone. Fab Academy is an educational programme on digital manufacturing in which more than 70 Fab Labs around the world, connected over the Internet, have participated throughout the year with projects ranging from new materials to applications in the field of health, automobiles, retail and everyday life, featuring initiatives for being able to print GPS maps in 3D, gaming technology for children, photos in hyperreality, customised noise, humidity and temperature sensors connected to smartphones and tailor-made limb immobilisers connected to a traumatologist.
In3Dustry From Needs to Solutions is the most important event related to additive manufacturing in Spain and probably will become the best in Europe.
