One of the newest offerings from Sciaky, a well-established manufacturer of metal additive manufacturing and welding solutions, is the EBAM 200 System. Like all other printers from Sciaky, it uses the patented Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing technology (hence the name). This process falls under Directed Energy Deposition as it combines metal wire feedstock with an electron beam gun to create large-scale metal 3D printed parts layer by layer. The technology also has the distinction of being, according to Sciaky, the world’s fastest metal 3D printing process.

Features of the EBAM 200 System

As with all of Sciaky’s solutions, the EBAM 200 boasts a large build envelope for truly large metal 3D printed parts. The chamber dimensions of the solution are an incredible 200″ (5080 mm) x 110″ (2794 mm) x 110″ (2794 mm) while the build envelope itself is 160″ (4064 mm) wide x 47″ (1194 mm) deep x 60″ (1524 mm) high. This puts it solidly as the second-largest 3D printer offered by Sciaky as well as one of the largest on the market, coming just behind the EBAM 300 and putting it ahead of the EBAM 110 and EBAM 150. Thanks to this as well, the EBAM 200 is known for the creation of large metal structures made of high-value metals while reducing lead time and material costs by up to 80%.

Moreover, similar to the other solutions from Sciaky, the EBAM 200 benefits from a number of interesting integrated software. For example, the Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM®) Package with IRISS® Closed-Loop Control (CLC) and Joint Scanning and Digitizing System. The solution also boasts High Efficiency Pumping (up to 1×10-5 Torr ultimate vacuum pressure) and a power level up to 42 kW–60 kV. Together, these enable more accurate part production with metals like titanium, tantalum, nickel-based alloys and other common welding materials.
