Desktop Metal is a US-based developer and marketer of professional 3D printing systems. Based in Burlington, Massachusetts, the company has received $438 million in venture capital since its founding from investors including Google Ventures, BMW, and Ford Motor Company.
Desktop Metal launched its first two products in April 2017: the Studio System, a metal 3D printing system for engineers and low-volume manufacturing, and the Production System, which is geared toward industrial printing and high-volume manufacturing. The company later introduced several other systems, such as the Shop System. Since the acquisition of ExOne, the company has also added the X-Series metal 3D printers to its portfolio, as well as a number of other machines following the merger with Forust.
