The Studio System™ 2 is a metal 3D printer developed by the US company Desktop Metal. It is based on a patented technology called Bound Metal Deposition (BMD), which is similar to the well-known FDM technology, but for metals. Metal wires are extruded in the same way and objects with a maximum size of 300 x 200 x 200 mm are produced layer by layer.

Features of the Studio System™ 2

Unlike laser-based systems that melt metal powder, the Studio System™ 2 extrudes metal wires, eliminating the complexity associated with metal 3D printing. It has external dimensions of 948 x 823 x 529 mm, a weight of 97 kg, and a preheated print tray with a temperature of up to 70 ºC.

The metal 3D printer works with various metals such as aluminum, steel, titanium or bronze. In addition, the unit is compatible with Live Studio™ Cloud software and comes with a sintering furnace and post-processing station to provide users with a complete solution.
