Manufacturer Elegoo launched in 2017 its Elegoo Mars resin machine, considered one of the cheapest 3D printers on the market today. Its appearance was a great addition to its collection of 3D machines with SLA technology, standing out for its high functionality and low price. It now comes in a series: as well as the original Elegoo Mars, there is Elegoo Mars 2, Mars 2 Pro, Mars 3 Pro and Mars 3 Ultra.

Main features of the 3D printer

First of all, the quality of the structure is quite adequate, being not very heavy and balanced. The Elegoo Mars has a print volume of 120 x 68 x 155 mm, providing a much cleaner part removal experience than with other resin 3D printers. With a layer height between 0.01 and 0.02 mm, this printer is capable of producing parts with much more detail and precision. Without a doubt, the results are much better than any FDM technology machine with the same price as Elegoo’s machine.

One of the complications when using the stereolithography method is the exaggeration of defects in the parts when there are errors in the Z-axis. However, in the case of the Elegoo Mars, this effect is hardly noticeable. The printer’s design is remarkable, occupying a relatively small square footprint. The user interface is easy to navigate and intuitive in design. Everything you would expect is already available: basic machine settings, leveling tools, and access to flash drive storage.

Buying an Elegoo Mars?

If you’re thinking about getting a resin machine, this printer is definitely an excellent choice. Keep in mind that when you purchase this machine, you will have to get the corresponding resin separately, as it is not included. Despite this and taking into account the SLA printers on the market, this is one of the best value for money. Its simplicity of use and its low cost makes the Elegoo Mars a very attractive solution.
