The Replicator Mini lives up to its name by offering a reduced print volume of 10x10x12.5 cm. It’s the entry level model for MakerBot’s range. The machine comes in a plug&play version that, unlike its older sisters, it does not need calibrating, a big plus for those who want to get into 3D printing. MakerBot has also innovated by adding an on-board camera with 640×480 resolution to control the progress of the prints live via smartphone (the manufacturer ZeePro was among the first to add a mini-camera to its printer). The smartphone app can also control the Replicator Mini remotely. On the performance side, the layer thickness is around 200 microns.
